Yesterday, the 15th of August, we joyfully celebrated the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady. The entrance to the church field was beautifully decorated by the members of the Confraria. The first Mass began with a prayer at the field, followed by the traditional cutting of the first sheaves of corn. These first sheaves of paddy or corn are offered in thanksgiving to God and to the patron saints of the parish.
The faithful then walked in procession to the church. During the homily, Father shared an inspiring story about Thomas Edison and the important role his mother played in shaping him into a great man. After the service, the blessed sheaves of corn were distributed among the parishioners. The members of the SSVP also organised a canteen where sorpotel, sanna, snacks, and even a few plants were made available for sale.
