Mother Mary’s Visit – 2025

Guidelines:

  1. The statues of Our Lady will leave the church on Tuesday, 9th September. We will meet at 5:00pm for instructions and prayers. All are requested to be in church on time. Please note, there may be a delay as there is a funeral in our parish.
  2. Every ward representative is aware of the statue assigned to them.
  3. On 9 September, along with the assigned statue, you will be taking along a collection box, oil lamp, prayer books (all labeled with the same statue number).
  4. This year, an LED light strip has been fitted in each statues’ case. Kindly keep an extension wire ready so you can plug it on once the prayer service begins at your place.
  5. The leaving prayer (Saibinn Bhair Sortana) to begin in every house at 5pm. There should be no change in timing or date without informing the ward representative and the Parish Priest. Considerations are made for only those having a funeral in their ward.
  6. The Holy Rosary and prayers are to be recited from the laminated booklet provided. The family celebrating will decide on the topic (vixoi) they wish to choose.
  7. The family will decide who is to conduct the prayer service. It will not be decided by the ward representative. You may choose a different hymn (if you want to skip the one suggested). However, please make sure the hymn is relevant to Our Lady.
  8. Word of God is the reading of the day. It may be read in English or Konkani from the Bible.
  9. Niall (Reflection) should be read in Konkani only from the book Jivitacho Prokas.10. Nomanachem Magnnem – if you do not have children/ old or sick people in the house/are abroad, you may skip this part (bhurgim asat…/zannttim,piddest…/pordesant asat zalear…).

  11. Prayers after the rosary
  • 1 Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be – for the intention of the Pope
  • 1 Our Father, Hail Mary – for the souls of the family
  • 1 Our Father, Hail Mary – for souls in purgatory
  • 3 Hail Mary to our Mother (i.e. Morie patkavinnem sambavlole)
  1. Father has requested that those decorating Our Lady’s table with fairy lights should keep the lights off or on a “steady” mode and not running as it is a distraction, especially for children.
  2. Garland – The garland needs to be taken off at your place before Our Lady leaves. The person taking the statue may take along their garland to the previous house or put it on the statue at their own place.
  3. Snacks – There is no restriction on the number of snacks. However, let there be no competition.

May all receive Our Lady’s statue in our homes with thanksgiving and love in our hearts.
