The Calangute Deanery ExCo Meeting was held on 20th July 2026 at our parish, Holy Trinity Church, Nagoa, marking the first meeting with our newly appointed Dean, Rev. Fr. Rocklin D’Costa. As members arrived, they were warmly welcomed and directed to refreshments before the commencement of the meeting.
The gathering began with a prayer led by the Calangute Parish, followed by a welcome address by Fr. Rocklin D’Costa. The members then participated in a fun and engaging game, which brought much laughter and fellowship to the gathering.
This was followed by the presentation of parish reports covering activities held from April to July. These reports highlight the significant events and initiatives undertaken by the various parishes, allowing members to learn from one another and draw inspiration from unique activities that could be adapted and implemented in their own communities.
Addressing the gathering, the Dean began with the powerful words, “We are the chosen ones. We are chosen to spread the Good News.” He reflected on how the role of the Dean, once viewed primarily as a prestigious position, is today more appropriately understood as a position of service, marked by humility. He reminded PPC members of their calling to build and strengthen our communities and somudais, making them more supportive and helpful to one another. He emphasized that we are called to solve problems with compassion and to reach out to others with understanding and kindness.
In a world shaped by modernization and the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence, he reminded everyone that we must not merely focus on being human beings, but must strive to remain truly human. The meeting was a meaningful blend of prayer, fellowship, learning and reflection, leaving members inspired to serve their parishes and communities with greater humility, compassion and purpose.
The next meeting is scheduled for the second week of October and will be held at St. Alex Church, Calangute.
