Good Friday – 2025

The Good Friday service at Nagoa-Arpora-Baga church began solemnly at 3:30 pm. The altar stood bare, stripped of the cross, candlesticks, and altar cloths, reflecting the somberness of the day. The service unfolded in three parts: the Liturgy of the Word, the Adoration of the Cross, and Holy Communion. During the Liturgy of the Word, the Parish Priest gave a moving reflection on the seven last words of Jesus from the cross. After the service, there was a traditional yet touching enactment of Jesus being taken down from the cross, followed by a solemn procession with the statue of Jesus’ body and the statue of Mother Mary. A poignant reflection on Mary’s loneliness and sorrow was shared with the gathered faithful. The service concluded with the veneration of both statues, meticulously organized by the Confraria. Many parishioners participated with deep devotion, creating an atmosphere of reverence and silence that truly captured the spirit of Good Friday.
