Devachea Pavtar – 2024

DEVACHEA PAVTAR

The Late Mr. Manuel F. dos Remedios built this Chapel in 1905. Ancestors say that Mr Manuel F. dos Remedios was staying at Vaddean, now known as Viegas Vaddo, in Arpora. He stopped to rest on a flat, rocky place. On returning home that night, he dreamed that God had left a footprint where he rested. So, to confirm the same, he went to the same place to check whether his dream was true, and to his surprise, there was a footprint on the rock.

So he decided to build a small chapel over there. This place is accessible from the Arpora side by a pathway.

Later, the people of Mainath Bhatti and Gorbhat used to have the Way of the Cross during the season of Lent and now, since the year 2000, the Parishioners of The Holy Trinity Church are taking an active part in the Way of the Cross, which starts from the Holy Cross Chapel at Mainath Bhatti.

The year 2005 was the centenary year of the Chapel, and our late parish priest, Fr. Joao Vicente Gonsalves, celebrated this occasion.
Since then, every year, a few days after the feast of The Holy Cross Chapel, Mainath Bhatti, Arpora, the people of the ward have a rosary recital at the Chapel.
